The Kriegsstärkenachweisung 1149 (freier Gliederung) from 1 November 1944 was a re-organization of the earlier version from 1 February 1944, in which the support elements had been moved to the parent units. There were two different versions: Type A with 13 tank destroyers, and type B with 10 tank destroyers.

The following additional tasks were given to the company troops:

  • Four auxilliary stretcher bearers.
  • One officer and three privates as the gas detection squad.
  • One officer and six privates as the gas decontamination squad, including where possible one medic or stretcher bearer.
  • One non-commissioned officer as gas protection officer.

Of the non-commissioned officers, three held the rank of Oberfeldwebel and seven (for type A) or five (for type B) held the rank of Feldwebel. In the tank destroyers, the on-board sub-machine gun was given to the gunner.
