1944 Arms Review
By Christian Ankerstjerne
On 26 January 1944, a report titled Studie über Rüstung 1944 (1944 armaments study) was prepared by the Reichministerium für Rüstung und Kriegsproduktion (Reich Ministry for Armaments and War Production), headed by Albert Speer, and the German Army quartermaster general was published. It described in detail the current state of development of German Army weapons, and contained a number of recommendations for the future development and production. The report emphasized the need to limit the number of weapons being manufactured.
